CVSA Inspections are now being conducted.

Grateful for all of the hard work officer Crownover has put into this training and the inspections (especially in this heat).  He’s a great part of the team and we’re proud of the work he’s doing making sure the commercial traffic going through caldwell is safe.

CVSA Inspections are now being conducted.

Officer Crownover received his training and certification as a Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspector. Being a S\specially trained inspector, Officer Crownover can inspect commercial motor vehicles based on inspection procedures and criteria created by CVSA, known as the North American Standard Inspection Program. During these inspections, both the driver and the commercial vehicle are both checked for safety regulations and any violations can result in the driver or vehicle being placed out of service until corrected.

With the large number of commercial vehicles that travel US 81 and K49 on a daily basis, the Caldwell Police Department decided implementing CVSA Inspections would not only help increase the safety of the roads but also the safety of the citizens and property within Caldwell. Over the years, Caldwell has experienced their share of crashes involving a commercial vehicle ranging from a driver running into a building on Main, to trucks tipping over and their loads falling off the trailers.

Enforcement and Awareness Programs are also part of the CVSA program. Human Trafficking Prevention and  Operation Safe Drivers an example of those Programs.
