It has been quite some time since I’ve last sent out an update. So, here’s a few topics of interest.
Clearwater Fall Festival (October 14 – 16)! With the heat of summer final (hopefully) gone, it’s time to plan for the fall and that means Clearwater Fall Festival! There will be a parade, carnival, car show, craft fair, food trucks, cornhole tournament, ducky dash, live band and DJ… plus many more activities and events for everyone to enjoy. We are excited to show off our city for this great annual event! For more information, please following this link http://www.clearwaterksfallfest.com/
Halloween. The city will be hosting the Downtown Trick or Treat starting at 6:00 pm on October 31st. We encourage residents and businesses to participate in our Downtown Area. The Police Department will be preparing hot dogs and City staff will be handing out candy. The road will be closed from Tracy to Lee on Ross Avenue for this event. Please be very mindful of the Trick or Treater’s that will be throughout our community streets and could dart out in front of traffic without warning! Please be very careful.
Fishing Ponds. Public Works has been working hard at clearing out the cattails at Chisholm Ridge ponds to make the fishing tournament a success as well as keeping it maintained for all residents to enjoy year-round.
Future happenings.
- The Clearwater Planning Commission recently finalized the Clearwater Comprehensive Plan. This plan includes a wealth of information regarding our community and sets forth a path and vision for the next 20 years! You can find the comprehensive plan on the City Website https://www.clearwaterks.org/ . We continue to focus on residential growth and making Clearwater a save and great place to work, live, and raise a family!
- We’ve been working to create a communication strategy for our city. Many residences completed a survey, and the city has been working with a BowerComm (same company the School District utilized in working on their plans) to develop the best way to highlight how great our community is! Look for more information on our city website and Facebook.
- A new housing development will soon begin construction. It will be located in the area behind the Jump Start and Dollar General. The development will be called Indian Ridge and is being built by Legaly Homes. It is planned to have 80 units constructed in 4 phases over the next few years. We are excited to see the growth being brought into Clearwater.
- Sedgwick County Emergency Management is having a Disaster Preparedness program for Clearwater residents November 18, 19, & 20 at The Center. This is a FEMA class for Community Emergency Response. This is a free course for those who want to attend. Please watch for update and sign ups. There will be a limit of 30 per class.
