Community Survey Needs Your Feedback

The City of Derby is conducting a community survey. The results will be used to help inform the City Council how to best invest tax dollars when planning for the next Derby Difference sales tax.

A select random group of Derby residents received a green survey in the mail in January. If you received a survey, please fill it out and return it at your earliest convenience rather than filling out the online public survey. Both will be used for feedback to the Council on the next Derby Difference sales tax, but the mailed survey is part of a statistically valid analysis that will be done by the Wichita State University Public Policy and Management Center.

Residents are invited to fill out the survey at bit.ly/derbycommunitysurvey. The link is case sensitive.

As a reminder, in 2022 the local sales tax brought in over $3 million and helped ease the property tax burden on Derby residents.

In the past, the half-cent local Derby sales tax has been used for priorities such as:

•    Construction of Rock River Rapids Aquatic Park

•    Construction and operating expenses of the Derby Public Library

•    Operating expenses and addition of firefighters and equipment for Derby Fire and Rescue

•    Construction of Madison Avenue Central Park and Decarksy Park Phase 1

Visit DerbyKS.com/salestaxrenewal for more information on the survey and the sales tax renewal process. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and priorities.
